Reading Intervention

The following elements form the delivery of the programme:

Reading an “easy” book/ section of a book (text that the child can read with 95% to 100% accuracy)
Reading a book/section of book at “instructional” level (90% to 94% accuracy) Whilst reading the book, the trained teacher /teaching assistant takes a running record of their reading, identifying the cues they use and marking up any errors they make
Practising phonemes, letter formation and key words
Undertaking phonological activities including those from Sound Linkage
Writing a sentence/ short story
Cutting up the sentence and reordering it
Introduction to a new reading book chosen from the collection of graded/ levelled books for the programme
Supporting the child to read the new book
Re-reading the new book with the trained adult
