Reading Intervention Session

What is The Reading Intervention Programme?

The Reading Intervention Programme is an intensive intervention programme to boost the development of reading and literacy skills. In depth assessments are carried out to ensure the programme meets the child’s individual needs. The programme combines both phonological awareness training and reading and this combination has been proven to be the most effective. The programme is designed to last for a minimum of ten weeks.

Who delivers the programme?

Ideally the person who delivers the programme should be a teacher, advanced teaching assistant (ATA) or higher level teaching assistant (HLTA).  It is important that the identified person attends the training course. Whoever receives the training needs to be in a position to deliver the programme for the school.
